About Immanuel

A truly loving community — and everyone's welcome in it.

We're a congregational church that has served the Concord Heights area for more than 100 years. We welcome older people, younger people, and everyone in between.

"To know God and to make Him known through fellowship, prayer, and service."

Who we are

We are a traditional church that does "tradition" informally. We think the word we is important. And we are a people for whom Jesus Christ and his teachings are even more important.

We are a theologically conservative church where theology is not weaponized against those who disagree with us. We welcome older people, younger people, and everyone in between.

We've been around for a while, with over a hundred years on Concord Heights — the whole story is here. We're part of the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference (CCCC), a fellowship of churches that hold to historic Christian faith while governing themselves locally, as a congregation, together.

Now that you've got the basics, feel free to explore further. And even if we never get to meet you, we're glad you visited us here.

Our Pastor

Pastor Bill & Daisy Donahue

“Nothing important gets done alone.”

Rev. Bill Donahue was selected by the Pastoral Committee to be our interim pastor, and to help with the selection of our next permanent one. After a few sermons and his help with church matters, we realized we had the real thing — and asked him to join our family as our full-time leader.

He leads Immanuel alongside his wife Daisy, preaching week by week through Scripture with warmth and plain speech. They'd genuinely love to meet you — before or after any service, or with a phone call during the week.

What we believe

As a church of the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference, we affirm the historic statement of faith held across the CCCC — seven simple convictions at the center of everything we do.

I
The Scriptures

The Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testament, is the only inspired, inerrant, infallible, authoritative Word of God written.

II
One God, Three Persons

There is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

III
Jesus Christ

In the deity of Christ — His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory.

IV
Salvation

For the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

V
The Holy Spirit

In the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

VI
The Resurrection

In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

VII
The Unity of Believers

In the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
